Greater Miami Valley MASW Collaborative (Miami University and Wright State University)
The Graduate School
First established in the Fall of 2012, the Greater Miami Valley MASW Collaborative combines the social work programs at Miami University and Wright State University to offer a joint degree for advanced generalist social work practice. Recently receiving full accreditation by the CSWE, the collaborative is focused on fulfilling the academic requirements for graduates to become Licensed Social Workers (LSW) and Licensed Independent Social Workers (LISW) in Ohio. Though students can choose to attend the two-year full-time program, advanced standing program, or three-year part-time program at either of the campuses, students will only receive a degree from the university where they were admitted.
Master of Arts in Social Work (MASW)
Through an equitable collaboration between Miami University and Wright State University, the Master of Arts in Social Work (MASW) program is designed to prepare graduate students to become advanced generalist social work practitioners to use theories, skills, ethics, and values in social intervention at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. With emphasis placed on the best practices for enriching human diversity for social justice, the program provides leadership in practice on behalf of the poor, oppressed, and disadvantaged at-risk populations of our society. After completing the first foundational year, students are expected to choose between two concentration focus areas in Gerontology or Child and Family Studies with relevant practicum.
